Giant Summer Snowflake

The Summer Snowflake 'Gravetye Giant', 'Leucojum aestivum', a fall planted bulb, produces flowers that resemble the snowdrop, but with green tips. The pendant white bells have six equal petals tipped with a dot of emerald green. The multiple flowers dangle on 18 inch stems. The slender leaves grow outward in a gentle curve. Summer Snowflake is one of the easiest and most carefree naturalizing bulbs you can grow. Like daffodils, they can be grown under shrubs and trees that are leafless in the late winter and early spring.


Mixed Colors Tritonia

The Tritonia Mixed, 'Tritonia', a fall planted bulb, produces flowers of mixed colors on a short plant. These clump forming plants have strappy leaves with flared trumpet-like flowers. Tritonia is available as mixed colors in white, orange and pink shades. They will produce masses of flowers in late spring. They have a very similar flower shape to sparaxis and freesias, although they flower much later, filling the gap between spring and summer flowering bulbs. Spanish Bluebells - Queen of the Pinks

The Spanish Bluebells 'Queen of the Pinks', 'Hyacinthoides hispanica ', is a fall planted bulb. These Spanish Bluebells produce elegant flowers with a heavenly, sweet perfume. This is one of the tallest-growing Scilla species. Hanging from the sturdy, round flower stalks are lots and lots of broad, bell-shaped flowers. The color of this species found in the wild is violet-blue, but there are also large-flowering pink, white, light blue and dark blue cultivars available. Plant the bulbs in locations where the soil is rich in nutrients and sufficiently moist, and do so as soon as possible after acquiring them. For the best effects, plant the bulbs in clusters of 10 to 15 bulbs, or scatter clusters throughout the garden or flower border. Bluebells bloom for a 3 week period in late spring/early summer.
